Tolpuddle martyrs festival: exhibition at tolpuddle old chapel
19th to 21st July 2024

I was excited to have the opportunity to exhibit some of my Dorchester prison inspired art pieces as part of the celebrations for this year’s Tolpuddle Festival. I would like to thank Tolpuddle Old Chapel for their invitation to show my work as part of a larger local history exhibition over that weekend. The recently restored chapel was built in 1818 by local Methodists including two of the Tolpuddle martyrs. It is now thriving a community space. I am a member of it’s local history group which is currently researching rural working class history in Dorset. Worlds Within Worlds: An Exhibition of work by Carol-Anne Savage in response to the historic Dorchester Prison site.
Saturday 25th May 2024

I am thrilled to have the opportunity to exhibit some of the work I have made in response to Dorchester Prison inside the actual building itself. Do come along and find out more about this historic local building, hidden in plain site in the centre of Dorchester!

I will be there from 10am to 4pm to talk about my work. I will also be joined by Ed Wilson, a serving prison officer who worked there for 10 years and is hugely knowledgeable about both it’s past and more recent history. There will also be a chance to book onto one of Ed’s forthcoming prison tours which he runs several times a month.

Please note for access that the exhibition space in the prison is flat walking but there are about 6 steps up into the prison. The prison is in the centre of Dorchester so it is easiest to park in the any of the shoppers car parks in town and take the short walk round to the prison.

My thanks go to Dorchester Prison Events and Experiences, Ed Wilson, Steve Foskett and Dorset Archives for their help in making this event possible.

Dorset Art Weeks Open Studio 25th May- 9th June 2024

I am excited to be opening my studio to visitors for this year’s Dorset Art Weeks.

I am Venue 155 in the brochure. There are 4 other artists exhibiting at Mellstock Farm – painters Kevin Moore (venue 156) and Alison Moore (venue 157), glass artist Mooni Gooni Glass (venue158) and ceramicist Deborah Clarke (venue 159).  There is also a lovely café nearby for coffees and homemade cakes and lunches.

We will be open every day 10am-4pm, except for Mondays when we are all closed for a break. Please also note that although my studio will be open on Saturday 25th May, I will not be there in person. This is because I will be stewarding at my pop-up art exhibition at Dorchester Prison (see above) – all visitors very welcome and you get to see inside some of the prison too!
