About Me
As an artist I have a particular interest in exploring a sense of place and of human connection through time. I often go deeply into my background research, and this then allows me to combine unusual and meaningful themes in my work. I aim to reveal hidden historical narratives both real and imagined. I am drawn to using vintage objects in my work as I feel they can give us a direct physical and emotional link with the past. I have recently been working on a series of work responding to the historic Dorchester Prison site, which has been empty since 2013.
I am a multidisciplinary artist, that is conveying the right sense of meaning in my art takes precedence over always working with the same materials or technique. I work in a wide variety of media including installation, collage, textiles, photography, mixed media and print. These are chosen depending on what I want the viewer of the work to experience and the work to convey.
I am based in rural Dorset and came back to art after leaving an established career in local government to follow a more creative career path.
I am currently studying for a Master’s Degree in Fine Art at Arts University Bournemouth.
