World within worlds exhibtion
dorchester prison
may 2024
In May 2024 I organised a pop-up exhibition in Dorchester Prison. This was a chance to share the art I had been working on, in the setting that inspired it. Over the months spent on this project I came to realise that what I wanted more than anything for this project, was to bring the pieces “home” in effect. To share their stories in the historic setting of the Victorian prison building. Some pieces were directly inspired by the building whilst others came about from my archive research at Dorset History Centre.
The photos below show some of the work in situ. The artwork included photography, collage and assemblage displayed over three rooms. The art shown in the exhibition has since been kept together as a body of work and it is hoped that it may be exhibited locally again at some point as part of a larger exhibition.
